GARR FileSender: the institutional service for sending large files

The Politecnico di Torino would like to inform all staff about the availability of GARR FileSender, a free service provided by the GARR Consortium, designed to facilitate the secure, fast, and reliable transfer of large files. Active for several years across all institutions in the Italian research network, GARR FileSender represents an institutional alternative to commercial services such as WeTransfer, TransferNow, or Send Anywhere, offering greater data protection and better compliance with current regulations.

The service allows the transfer of files up to 200 GB per single send, operating entirely within the GARR research network. Thanks to this dedicated infrastructure, users can enjoy high performance, fast transfer times, and consistent reliability, especially when exchanging files with other academic or research institutions.

The service is simple to use: after authenticating with institutional credentials, users can upload the files to be sent, set the recipients, and manage the transfer securely. The entire process takes place over the GARR network, ensuring data protection and confidentiality.
