Infrastructures

We manage the entire lifecycle of the University’s centralized IT infrastructures, covering all phases from initial design to operational management, technological upgrades, and the implementation of new solutions. These infrastructures form the backbone of IT services, ensuring stability, security, and operational continuity.

In addition, we provide support to individual Departments, enabling the delivery of specialized services and the proper functioning of research, teaching, and administrative activities. Through an integrated and proactive approach, we ensure that the University’s technological platforms are always up to date, high-performing, and aligned with the scientific, organizational, and strategic needs of the entire academic community.

The Staff

  • The Infrastructure Service ensures the operation of the campus IT network, which connects computers, servers, printers, phones, and other digital devices across the University. Thanks to this network, students, faculty, and staff can access the Internet, share information, use digital services (email, learning platforms, research archives), and communicate easily with one another. The Wi-Fi network, available in classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and common areas, allows users to browse and work from any point on campus quickly and easily.
  • Special attention is given to the connection with the national research network GARR, which enables the University to connect with other research institutions, facilitating the sharing of resources and data at national and international levels. The Politecnico hosts one of the new high-speed GARR access points within its Data Center.
  • The Data Center is the technological heart of the University: it houses the servers, network devices, and security systems that ensure the continuous and secure operation of digital services, from learning platforms to research archives.
  • The Service is also responsible for the evolution and innovation of IT architectures and Data Centers, with a particular focus on environmental sustainability. We design and equip technological spaces to ensure operational continuity and energy efficiency, respecting environmental responsibility and resource optimization.
  • Finally, we provide expert support for the University’s technological projects, contributing to the definition of architectural standards and technical guidelines, with the goal of ensuring consistency, efficiency, and sustainability in infrastructure decisions and IT solution implementation.
