Activation of the ChatGPT EDU Service for Faculty and Staff

Starting from July 2025, the University has joined the CRUI agreement with OpenAI, offering faculty, researchers, and collaborators the opportunity to access ChatGPT Plus – Education version licenses under preferential conditions. This service is intended to support teaching, experimental activities, and editorial assistance, with particular attention to data security and compliance with current regulations.

This initiative represents a concrete step toward the adoption of advanced artificial intelligence tools to support teaching, research, and daily academic activities.

The licenses are available at an annual cost of €103.12 per user and are:

  • borne by the applicants
  • personal and non-transferable
  • linked exclusively to the institutional account

It is also possible to request licenses for collaborators (postdocs, PhD students, etc.) under the same conditions as those applied to faculty members.

If you already have a ChatGPT account with a @polito.it email:

  • Sign out of your account on all devices.
  • Click the link provided in the invitation email.
  • You will be asked whether you want to transfer your existing chat history to the new EDU workspace or export and delete it (transferring the history is recommended to preserve previous conversations).
  • After confirmation, your account will be automatically linked to the ChatGPT EDU workspace.
  • The migration of your chat history may take a few minutes.

If you do not have a ChatGPT account with a @polito.it email:

  • Click the link provided in the invitation email.
  • Complete the registration as a new user, using your @polito.it email and creating a dedicated password, separate from your institutional password.
  • Once registration is complete, you will be able to access the ChatGPT EDU workspace with your new credentials.

Currently, the ChatGPT EDU service does not support the Politecnico Single Sign-On (SSO), so you will need to use the separate password created during registration.
