As part of the activities aimed at strengthening the security of the University’s information systems and in compliance with the NIS2 regulations, starting from February 15, 2026, direct external access to the RDP (Windows Remote Desktop) protocol will be disabled.
The Remote Desktop service allows users to remotely connect to a Windows computer and use it as if they were physically in front of the machine (providing access to the desktop, applications, and data).
Following this change, access to systems via Remote Desktop will only be allowed after connecting to the University network through the institutional VPN service.
This measure aims to reduce the exposure of IT systems to potential cyber threats and ensure greater protection of the University’s data and services.
Note that any students or thesis candidates accessing University machines via the RDP protocol must also use the institutional VPN service too.
