[25/9/2026] New Google Gemini services and software licensing management of ChatGPT, OneDrive, Dropbox

[Communication sent by email on 9/25/2026 to Professors, Researchers]

The University wishes to inform you that the Google Gemini for Education platform will be activated in October 2026 and made available free of charge to the entire Politecnico academic community: researchers, technical and administrative staff, and students.

Please also note that all software licences (ChatGPT, Dropbox and OneDrive) purchased during the previous academic year will expire on 30 September 2026.

To simplify the renewal process, all previously purchased licences will be automatically renewed for a further year, without the need to submit a new request, unless the requester explicitly opts out or the licence holder is no longer affiliated with the University. Where renewal is declined, the licence will be deactivated from 15 October 2026.

Through the Software Licence Request service, requesters can manage the licences requested for themselves and their collaborators.

The service is open from now until 11 October 2026. You are therefore encouraged to take action promptly to review your licences, decline any renewals you no longer require, or submit new requests. The next application window is scheduled for March.

The service allows you to:

  • view previously requested licences;
  • decline the renewal of one or more licences;
  • submit new requests, including requests for collaborators.

Please note that access to the service is restricted to permanent University staff. PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and other non-permanent personnel may contact their supervisor or designated contact person to request licences in their own name.

For further information about the individual services, please consult the dedicated pages for ChatGPT EDU, OneDrive and Dropbox cloud storage services, and the information page on the it@PoliTO website.

Further information about Google Gemini for Education and the activation procedure will be published as soon as the service becomes available.
